…..We shall continue from where, the twin sisters of Chrispin Mwasi were mentioned.
So our class had 28 students, It happens in a class you get to know each other and friendship begins. I had several friends let me mention few;Herman mwashuke, Shoni Mwachofi ,Peter Mwaimbe they’re friends who we engaged in class work competition and games . In the class there was high competition on studies which assisted me to emerge top three (3 ) every term . We used to rotate the numbers that is sometimes I be number one and other term number three like that but not above three (3).
The school system, when you join class one red, you will continue with that class colour untill class eight with the same classmates. This plan was good. You know each other very well . The classes were mixed meaning boys and girls together. It happens that you mingle together as brothers and sisters.
I don’t agree with this system to be good because a child being a boy it becomes automatic to have that extra love to fellow classmate girl and grouping begins. I can admit this because it affected me and my friends too making us to engage in unnecessary fights. The boy goes extra mile been a provider and protector for the girl. These results in fail on studies. To me I was so much in love with Rose where we ended up sitting on the same desk. The desks were designed for two people. “Let Rose story be for another episode.” I was unlucky to complete my studies and I was transferred.
I spent my seven years in Mwakingali primary school and later I was transferred to Mwatunge Primary school in Mwatate Sub county of Taita – Taveta. The reasons for the transfer was I became so playful and dropped on class work. I had become football fun and I was the best goal keeper for team so wherever my team was to play I was so important making it impossible to miss the game.
One day it happened that we began the match late as planned . We had been delayed in the school by the duty teacher who had introduced evening cleaning program. The match went well and we won. It was almost getting dark and play ground was far from home but just on the way to school. Anyone passing by will see us playing.
Unfortunately, I had my elder sister who didn’t like the issue of coming home late. The day ended so painful to me I was canned and slapped. I cried so much until my mum came to my rescue from Job. She confirmed the story behind the fight but it was too late my ambition to become a footballer goalkeeper had diminished that day. That’s why I don’t watch football so you meet me be knowing I have no team.
I hope we are together now you know why I was transferred to Mwatunge primary school. I joined class eight direct after been given an exam and passed well. Here life changed. Take note I was to travel daily from Voi sub county to Mwatate Sub county which was a distance of 25 to 30 minutes. That time costed ksh 60 to and fro year 2008 , now year 2025 costs ksh 200 . The distance is the same and road now is better the only problem is fuel cost which has affected the cost. The government has been unable to control fuel cost making life difficult for the people. Joining the school I had to begin new life meaning waking up early, new friends and cut down village friends. There time for football and playing time was no more. Studies were the core issue to me. I was glad I got new friends kasike, Wilson,Lilian Mbithe, Elnora, clemence and more list is large. Some will appear us we continue with the story. Then my class teacher was Mr. Dalmas . I appreciate you efforts sir where you’re.
