Part 18

It was at the beginning of third year semester where I was nominated to be the business manager of Mwandoke enterprise. The business was owned by partnership between my brother in law of first sister and his friend Mr. Mwaniki. It was so by chance to get the position because my people never knew I had that ability but Mr. Mwaniki he had got my ability within a short period during our discussion while doing the research and shop preparation.

Now am supposed to go to classes and also ensure the business is running well . I was to coordinate purchases , pricing, displays, marketing it was a new venture in town. It was a big task and required a lot of movement.

The purchasing was to be done on weekend to allow me to travel us no classes on weekends. I learned so much on doing price comparison between different qualities and bargain power. Quantity matters a lot in whole business ventures due it will determine the cost per product discount. It was really a practical guide for the course I was pursuing, it go my interest in doing it more . I was the biggest supporter of the business because Mr. Mwaniki was running his own business in Nairobi and my brother in law was employed in Nairobi. The business was running well and growth was significant. It could pay the 4 staff’s, Business rent and clear the business debts in time.

When it 3 months to my final exam something crazy happened which made the business to be dissolved. I was busy doing business transactions then one of the staff who was close to my inlaw narrated as a joke , tomorrow a new boss is coming. Alaaaah, who informed you I quickly asked. She slowly lowered her voice and said boss told me in the morning has he not informed you?

I got shocked how staff’s get information before there line manager. I had to prepare myself psychologically to accept the changes. In the evening end business I received a call from my inlaw which informed me I will receive on person from Mombasa who will come to join as head of the business from tomorrow.

I just responded have you informed Mwaniki about the changes? This was my last question and he cut off the mobile. He knew even if I don’t receive him he has someone to do that.
