Part 8

This part 8 continues from part 6 where I acquired the capital to boost the business.

I planned my first business trip to Taveta town . It was major known for cheap cereals. The cereals usually come from Tanzania in bulky and small vendors get there share from the wholesalers. Most mistake I did was not associating any businessman who had knowledge of the market I went blindly with confidence. Learning from scratch is my favourite thing.

I went to the bus station at around 7 o’clock in the evening after taking my early supper so that I could get good bus and a sit due the distance was far. The buses on that route were old buses reason was due to the road had not been tarmacked. It was rough road with a lot of dust.

That time I had no mobile phone , we only depended on my mother Siemens phone those with aerial. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for Siemens company.

I was lucky to get Harambee bus but no sit I had to stand to the end of the journey for 4 hours. Remember it’s night time , it was really rush time for me. Note that I had more than ksh 20,000 for the shopping and the road had no safety. Every week there was stories of bus highjacked. I prayed 🙏 all the way to Taveta for safety of the cash I had putted on my socks .

We arrived safely that day and while I was waiting for the cock to crow( morning) decided to move to a base where people were taking tea or kahawai ( coffee). While sipping my coffee something came to my mind about the origin of my in-law. He was from that and one time he told me he had brothers and cousins in town who operate a butchery and hotel.

I decided to join the funny talks on that base so that I can be known and to make it easier to begin questioning. It was just by luck I had known the full names of the in law so I just mentioned them and within a tinkle of an eye one of his cousins emerged from the base group. We all got surprised and total different life began there. He took my luggage to the butcher. Not knowing they were sacks he handled them with high care . I noticed one thing with the people of Taveta , they have high welcoming discipline, they clean to heart and they have no discrimination.

Now in Taveta , got a family I felt so happy been the first day. I told him I have come for business. The first question I was asked is do you know to change money? I got shocked why change Kenya cash to Tanzania and business is in Kenya. I hope we are together.
